REMEMBERED

Pvt. Hylan Leitus Rosser, Lumsden's Alabama Artillery. He was killed on 15 December 1864 at the Battle of Nashville, at about age 16, after being hit in the head by shrapnel.  Lumsden's Alabama battery consisted of 4 smooth bore Napoleon 12 pounder guns. These guns defended Redoubt # 4 west of Hillsboro Pike for three hours against 7,000 attacking Union infantry. The Redoubt was manned by 48 Alabama artillerymen and about 100 Alabama Infantry soldiers. Redoubt # 4 was pummeled by surrounding Union artillery.
